If you live in public housing or have a housing voucher, you have all the rights other tenants have and more. If a Housing Authority (HA) seeks to evict you, it needs to have a good reason. The Housing Authority must prove you committed a serious violation of the lease. Or the HA must prove you committed repeated minor violations of the lease. Or the HA must have other ‘good cause.’ You may be evicted from public housing for criminal activity that threatens the health, safety, or peaceful enjoyment by other tenants. In addition, you may be evicted for drug-related activity at or away from your rental unit. The drug activity can be committed either by you, someone in your household, your guest or someone else in your control.
Evictions from either subsidized or non- subsidized housing is challenging for both the landlords and tenants. Join this information packed webinar presented by industry expert, Paul Flogstad where he will provide guidance and demystify the process.
There are many rights that tenant and landlord have when renting a property. There are also responsibilities that both the landlord and tenant have. When either of these areas are in violation there are legal remedies for both. Paul will discuss the reasons and solutions in detail during the webinar.
